How safe are the activities?
Safety is our number one concern. All activities are led by professional instructors who provide the expertise and supervision, plus the proper equipment to make every activity as safe as possible. Before activities begin, participants are briefed on possible safety concerns and are given instructions to minimize risks associated with the activities.
How do we get from place to place?
We travel in 12-15 passenger vans. We design our itineraries with travel time in mind, so you'll spend less time driving, and more time exploring the outdoors.
How's the food
It's great! Good food is an essential part of a successful expedition. Fresh food is purchased every 2-3 days, and prepared by campers and staff over propane stoves. You'll eat 3 balanced meals every day, plus snacks and desserts.
Where do we sleep?
You'll camp every night! We sleep: 3 to a tent split by gender, in lean-tos, at hostels, campgrounds, primitive wilderness settings and under the stars.
How often will I shower?
On our trips you will be out for multiple days at a time, which is the reality when on an expedition. We are all in it together and we learn how to stay as clean as possible in the backcountry, especially when we are cooking and eating as a group. Every few days we will resupply our gear and food and take that opportunity to shower and do laundry if needed.
How many kids and instructors on a trip?
There are up to 10 co-ed kids per trip, guided by 2-3 energetic adult leaders. There is at least one male and one female instructor on all co-ed expeditions.
How will I participate in service projects?
On most trips, you'll participate in various types of service projects to assist local parks, US Forest Service, National Park Service, etc. Service projects include: clearing hiking trails, light construction projects, or invasive plant removal. Service projects usually last one day.
